An accident waiting to happen
Liberal member for Davenport, Sam Duluk, is disappointed but not surprised that Main Road Blackwood has been named amongst the five most likely roads for a car crash in Adelaide.
AAMI Insurance Company made the finding based on 9000 claims made last year.
Blackwood’s Main Road is compared with roads such as North Terrace and the Salisbury Highway as dangerous to motorists.
"These figures place Main Road Blackwood as the fifth most likely place for a car crash to occur and highlights the need for the Weatherill Labor Government to review the conditions of the Hills Roads corridor," said Mr Duluk.
"It is unacceptable that residents in Blackwood and surrounding suburbs should be at risk of an accident so close to home."
In the recent Davenport by-election, State Liberal Leader Steven Marshall MP announced a $20 million plan to upgrade the Hills Roads corridor, to improve safety and bushfire evacuation for the Davenport residents.
"I will be writing to the Minister to seek his assurance that the Weatherill government will be investigating the lack of safety on Main Road Blackwood," said Mr Duluk.
