Duluk off and running
The new Member for Davenport, Sam Duluk, asked his first question in Parliament during Question Time yesterday.
Mr Duluk quizzed the Minister for Emergency Services, the Hon Tony Piccolo, on developments about the commitment the State Government made to fund a tanker for the Sturt CFS.
Mr Duluk asked:
“Can the Minister confirm that new firefighting equipment and a compressed air foam tanker appliance for the Sturt CFS group will be funded this year as per the government’s Davenport by-election promise?”
The Minister initially responded by stating that he’d been advised the funding “wasn’t a priority.”
However eventually Minister Piccolo confirmed that further discussions had occurred between agencies and conceded that “the tanker is on its way, subject to some conditions being met.”
The Minister said a new type of tanker was being discussed and trialed but did not provide an indication of exactly when the new tanker would be delivered.
“The State Liberal Party has committed to provide the extra funding needed by the Sturt CFS for a compressed air foam tanker, on top of the already $180,000 the group has raised themselves,” said Mr Duluk
