Member for Waite, Sam Duluk MP has today welcomed the State Government’s reversal on proposed bus route changes and backflip on the closure of the Mitcham Service SA branch.
“As the Member for Waite, I welcome today’s announcement by the Minister for Transport to scrap two deeply unpopular decisions made by Government in my electorate,” said Mr Duluk.
“I would like to thank every one of the hundreds of people who contacted my office in the last two weeks, voicing their concern about the proposal to reduce local bus services.
“The proposed bus changes would have completely removed bus routes that local commuters rely on to get to work, to school and to important appointments.
“Through support of constituents providing feedback to the Department, along with my advocacy on radio and television and my online and paper petitions, the Waite electorate pushed back strongly against the proposed bus route changes.
“Our advocacy efforts since 2018 against the closure of the Mitcham Service SA branch have also yielded fruit today, with the Government’s backflip on closing the branch.
“The people of Waite should be proud of their efforts in retaining critical local public service infrastructure, as proof of local democracy in action.”
