Small business is the backbone of the South Australian economy and plays such an important role in the fabric of our local community.
Throughout the year, I have continued to extend my support to all businesses who require assistance.
My office has helped traders understand the ever-changing COVID-19 restrictions and public health declarations, provide material and information, as well as develop COVID Safe Plans and Management Plans.
I continue to promote local business on my social media and lobby on behalf of industry.
Additionally, I have written to Police Commissioner Grant Stevens and Professor Nicola Spurrier on multiple occasions to support:
- gyms and fitness studios in turning their fans and water fountains back on before the summer months
- independent retailers such as our local bakeries and newsagencies to be able to trade during the Hard November Lockdown
On your behalf I continue to advocate in the media and in Parliament against some of the inconsistent COVID-19 policy measures.
There was also the Great Waite Coffee campaign and advocacy with the Australian Hotel Association (AHA) to promote retail jobs in our community.
I encourage you all to support small businesses over the Christmas and New Year break by shopping locally.
