For the last two years, the community of Waite has been fighting to keep the Mitcham Service SA branch open.
The services provided at this branch are used by many in the community and for that reason, I have continued to lobby the Government to continue funding this Centre.
After multiple ambiguous announcements from the State Government which created great uncertainty, I was happy to hear confirmation that this centre will remain open.
Earlier this month, I met with the Department to discuss the future of the Centre. I can now share that the services will continue in the Mitcham area, although they may appear in a different layout, as the service delivery model will be updated to be more user-friendly.
I’m glad that the local jobs will remain in our area and we can look forward to experiencing an innovative service delivery, so we can spend more time doing what matters.
