South Australian Productivity Commission Bill

Posted on June 19, 2018

Mr DULUK (Waite) (15:47):

It gives me a lot of pleasure to speak on the South Australian Productivity Commission Bill 2018. I note that it was introduced by the Premier very recently. Of course, this is one of the election commitments that we promised and took to the South Australian people. It is one election promise that we said we will introduce in our first 100 days, and that is exactly what we are doing.

Fair Trading (Ticket Scalping) Bill

Posted on June 07, 2018

Mr DULUK (Waite) (16:11):

I also rise to make a contribution on the Fair Trading (Ticket Scalping) Amendment Bill 2018. Once again, it is good to be in the house speaking on an issue where the government is delivering on its election promises. In the lead-up to the election, one of the items of policy that we said we would introduce in our first 100 days was of course this bill. It goes on the back of some of the other bills we have been talking about this week in relation to consumer protection, which is very important.

76th Memorial of the Bangka Strait Massacre

Posted on June 06, 2018

Mr DULUK (Waite) (12:24):

I move:

That this house—

(a)          recognises the 76th anniversary of the 1942 Bangka Strait massacre;

(b)          welcomes the permanent memorial to honour the sole survivor of the massacre, South Australian Vivian Bullwinkel, and all Australian servicewomen; and

(c)           honours the memory of Australian women killed in all theatres of war.

World Environment Day

Posted on June 06, 2018

Mr DULUK (Waite) (11:28):

I also rise to speak to this motion, and I thank the deputy leader for bringing it before the house. I will talk a bit about the environment and the importance of the environment and open space to my community, which is home to so many wonderful reserves and places such as the Belair National Park. I will also talk a little bit about the new government's agenda and the new minister's agenda in this space. I must commend him for his zeal for protecting the environment and ensuring that South Australia has the best environmental policies going forward.

Fair Trading (Gift Cards) Bill

Posted on June 05, 2018

Mr DULUK (Waite) (11:21):

I also rise to say a few words on this important bit of legislation, the Fair Trading (Gift Cards) Amendment Bill 2018. It is a simple bill, but it is a bill that goes a long way to delivering on the Marshall government's election promises. On this side of the house, we are determined to deliver on our election promises because we know that is so important to the people of South Australia for them to have confidence in their new government and in the body politic that says we are going to do something we said were going to do.

Carly's Law

Posted on May 31, 2018

Mr DULUK (Waite) (12:33):

I just want to say a few words on this very important bill that has been brought before the house. I think it is one of our very first bits of legislation in this area of reform. This bill is instrumental in protecting children, which is so important. Governments should not be afraid of tackling this issue when it comes to cybercrime and the changes that we are dealing with. There is no doubt that parliament is sometimes slow to react to these issues because of the legislative framework that goes around with it.

Skilling SA

Posted on May 30, 2018

Mr DULUK (Waite) (12:50):

I want to make a few comments on the motion moved by the member for King and congratulate her on her hard work and advocacy for her people in the northeast. I note this is her first motion. As the member for Unley concluded in his comments, skills, apprenticeships and jobs are a huge issue, not just in the member for King's electorate but, of course, in my electorate and across all of South Australia.

Repat Update

Posted on May 30, 2018

Mr DULUK (Waite) (15:10):

Today, I would like to speak about the future of the Repat. Many on this side of the house know that it is an issue I have been talking about for a long time. When I did a bit of a search, I found that I had mentioned the Repat about 35 times in the last two years in the house in questions and speeches. It is such an important asset to my community and the people of southern Adelaide and South Australia more broadly.

Supply Bill

Posted on May 16, 2018

Mr DULUK (Waite) (17:39):

I am very glad to speak to this Supply Bill, which is of course seeking to appropriate approximately $6.631 billion from the Consolidated Account for payments of very important services for the people of South Australia by Her Majesty's government. The focus of the 2018-19 state budget, which of course is going to be handed down in September, will be the implementation of this new Marshall government's commitments as well as developing into the longer run a sustainable budget position. We have just—obviously last week—had the federal budget, and I must commend Treasurer Morrison and the federal Liberal government for their return to surplus, predicted in the coming years, and to that sustainable budget position by then.

International Firefighters' Day

Posted on May 16, 2018

Mr DULUK (Waite) (12:23):

I also wish to say a few words to mark International Firefighters' Day and commend the minister for moving this motion and acknowledge his hard work in this area and the government's support of firefighters, both MFS and CFS. One thing that I love about the support of those on this side of the house is how we do appreciate that the MFS and the CFS are quite different but really important organisations. I hope it is a lesson learnt, especially since, when the member for Light was the minister for emergency services, he tried to merge those two organisations, much to the disappointment and chagrin of, especially, Country Fire Service operators and volunteers.
